Celebrating 180 years of Macmillan Heritage

When brothers Daniel and Alexander Macmillan founded their publishing company in 1843, they created a place that would recognise and value great contemporary writing. They soon made their mark on the literary world, publishing a range of works by extraordinary authors: Lewis CarrollAlfred Lord TennysonThomas Hardy and Rudyard Kipling to name but a few. A love of learningreading and innovation has always been our mission since the very beginning.

Macmillan Education has led the way in landmark publications, publishing Alice in Wonderland in 1865 and The Jungle Book in 1892. Today, Macmillan Education develops print, digital, and online products and solutions that support academics, teachers, students and learners around the world.

We have a presence in 120 countries and are continuously adapting to meet the changing needs of the communities we serve.

180 years later, we are building on the Macmillan brothers’ commitment to learning and innovation and celebrating the progress that has been made in education thanks to their vision.

Macmillan Education Iberia was founded in 1987 and, since then, has gone on to establish itself as one of the most important educational publishers in Spain. We proudly work hand-in-hand with teachers to produce high-quality, trusted educational materials and services and support the users of our products in getting the most from what we publish.

180 Days of Giving Back Initiative

A love of learning, reading and innovation has always been our mission since the very beginning. 180 years later, at Macmillan Education, we are continuing to build on the Macmillan brothers’ commitment to learning, innovation and doing social good.

To celebrate the positive impact we have had on education globally, and to show our strong commitment to serving our local communities, Macmillan Education has launched the 180 Days of Giving Back Initiative. We’re giving 180+ Macmillan Education employees worldwide one day of leave to volunteer for a selected charity supporting education in their region.
