They can also help to bring English to life, lift it off the page,  and develop key competences such as critical thinking or cultural awareness. Usoa Sol: Usoa is a secondary school teacher in Barcelona and a lecturer at the Universitat Ramon Llull (Blanquerna). She was the winner of the John McDowell-British Council Award in 2013 and is currently the vice-president of APAC, the English Teachers’ Association in Catalonia. She has collaborated as a teacher trainer and materials writer for Macmillan Education for several years. She is particularly interested in teen psychology and firmly believes in the power of ICT to motivate students.
