To end poverty in all its forms everywhere by 2030
- More than 700 million people continue to live in extreme poverty and struggle to meet their most basic needs, such as health, education and access to water and sanitation.
- The vast majority of people subsisting on less than $1.90 a day live in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
- This problem also affects developed countries. There are currently 30 million children growing up poor in the world’s richest countries.
The pandemic could increase poverty worldwide to an additional 500 million people, or 8% more of the world’s population. This would be the first time poverty has increased worldwide in 30 years, since 1990.
- On anniversaries, there is the possibility to replace gifts with donations to a charity.
- Buy fair trade products to support the sustainable trading system, which provides workers with a fair wage.
- Sponsor a child so they can have access to food, education and healthcare.
