MACMILLAN EDUCATION

READERS CLUB

LOMLOE and reading competence

As previous educational laws have, the LOMLOE seeks to encourage schools to foster a love of books and to promote the habit of reading amongst students. Why? Because reading has a direct impact on crucial aspects of their education:
  • Improvement of reading comprehension.
  • Development of communication skills.
  • Correct management of information.
  • Development of critical thinking.
  • Acquisition of  knowledge.
  • Development of empathy for different realities.
With a view to having a positive impact on students’ personal and academic or professional development, the LOMLOE introduces flexibility by avoiding required reading lists. In order to create a lasting habit, it proposes allocating time for reading daily and recommends the involvement and commitment of the whole school.

HOW TO DEVELOP THE READING HABIT IN THE CLASSROOM ACCORDING TO THE LOMLOE?

1
Offer students a varied and attractive selection of Readers.
2

Encourage students’ autonomy and personal criteria.
