Esther Belda

Esther has a Bachelor’s degree in English Philology as well as a Master’s degree in translation. She has more than 20 years’ experience as a teacher and has been teaching at the Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas since 2005. She has been coordinator of the Innovation Project on Mediation in various Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas in the Valencia region since 2017. Esther has given both face-to-face and online training, particularly in the area of mediation, to fellow teachers in Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas all around Spain.

Linguistic mediation: what does this mean for our classes?

With a view to presenting linguistic mediation from a hands-on and practical perspective, this talk will provide you with a brief introduction to the definition and types of linguistic mediation, concrete examples of inter and intra-linguistic mediation activities as well as suggestion for teaching and assessing mediation. There will be plenty of opportunities to interact during the talk via chats and polls and resolve any doubts you may have regarding linguistic mediation and its application to the classroom.
