MEET THE AUTHORS

“Heroes focuses on English as it is used in the real world. Pupils receive systematic support enabling them to complete fun, communicative tasks, set in real-world contexts. My pupils have really enjoyed and benefited from these tasks”.

Emma Mohamed

“By helping family, friends and members of the local community, every child can be a hero”.

Mark Ormerod

“Teaching children to think critically and creatively is more important than ever. Heroes helps children to develop new ways of thinking so that they can explore and make sense of their world”.

“Heroes is about confidence-building. We have developed activities to help students to feel comfortable about challenging themselves and thinking about how they learn effectively. I think our devoted Study Skills and Thinking Skills sections will be valued by teachers and students alike”.

How Heroes helps you create an inclusive learning environment

We know each learner has different strengths and weaknesses, and learns best in different ways. In order to build on individual capabilities, helping students to learn and teachers to create an inclusive learning environment, each of our courses provides a range of components and methodology that helps you to meet the needs of everyone in your classroom.

Methodology

  • Heroes strongly promotes the idea of community starting with the Heroes Club in Cycle 1, progressing to the Heroes Community Centre in Cycle 2 and then to the wider world in Cycle 3 where they invite contributions to their blog from children around the world.
  • At the Heroes club, all children are encouraged to try out new activities and be supportive of each other’s differences.
  • Inclusive values such as teamwork, helping people, living and working together and making friends are woven into the life skills sections.
  • The wide range of extension materials provide teachers with the flexibility they need to adapt the level according to their classroom needs.

Components

Heroes includes various supplementary materials to cater for differing levels:

  • Extension materials at the back of the Pupil’s Book and the Workbook.
  • Innovative support materials in the Teacher’s Communication Kit (Levels 1 – 4).
  • Grammar & Vocabulary Reinforcement and Extension worksheets.
